UNDP Expert on Climate Change, Dr. MirelaKamberi visits Epoka University for a constructive discussion on Global Warming

On January 30, 2017, the Rector of Epoka University Prof. Dr. Güngör Turan and the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Assoc Prof. Dr. Salih Özcan had the pleasure to welcome the distinguished guest speaker, Dr. Mirela Kamberi, UNDP expert and representative at Epoka University Campus. The event started by the opening remarks of professor Ozcan where he pointed out the importance of discussing the global warming in front of the current and immediate regional and global challenges.  Dr. Kamberi delivered a very interesting and informative presentation on the topic “Global Warming as an International Challenge and its Albanian Perspective”. In her discourse, she covered primarily the environmental issues in a very scientific approach including important data that illustrated better the topic. Then, Dr. Kamberi referred to the international concern on climate change including the commitment of the international arena and actors in dealing with this hectic challenge while providing a valuable approach on climate change mitigation, energy efficiency, pollution prevention, waste management and energy public policy. Furthermore, she conducted her explanatory presentation on other significant aspects such as proving a more detailed analysis on the main treaties and agreements like Kyoto Protocol or Paris Agreement. Actually, Dr. Kamberi has represented Albania in all the Conference of the Parties (or “COP”) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) since 2007, including the Conference of Copenhagen, Lima, Doha Qatar, Cancun, Paris (when and where the Paris agreement was reached) and recently in Marrakech. Lastly, she also included the perspective and commitment of Albania in global warming issues, while answering the interesting questions from the students of our department.
