On the 22nd of January 2016, the board members of Conflict Resolution Club had an interactive meeting with the major of Tirana Mr. Erion Veliaj regarding the current political situation of Albania, pros and cons of being the Major of Tirana, the ways which Tirana citizens can participate in making our city a better place and helps us understand what it takes to be a good leader.
Referring to the pros and cons of being the Mayor of Tirana, Mr. Veliaj emphasized the distinction between a mayor and a politician/deputy/minister. According to him, being the mayor is the most attractive politic work which he has been working because in that post the changes and reforms require a short time and he is closer to the citizens by helping them.
About the current political situation, Mr. Veliaj emphasized the fact that Albania is in evolution and the government is making every effort to put the country forward. His objective as a Mayor is to change the life of people in Tirana by modernizing it but this cannot happen in one term so he is enthusiastic of the progress day to day.
The final say was a discussion with the students participating in the meeting. The mayor advised them to study hard because our country will always need excellent students who contribute for the best of Albania. He also offered the internship to the municipality of Tirana for the third year students at Epoka University.
Inspired by this fruitful interaction between the Municipality of Tirana and Epoka University, we look forward to further collaborations!
